My Story

The PKruzzandFaith Foundation was established in April 2015 by Orlantha Bennett, also known as Kruzz. The name of the foundation was inspired by events that began in April 2014, when Kruzz was diagnosed with breast cancer. She began a challenging journey that included a double mastectomy, 16 rounds of chemotherapy, one additional year of treatment to help prevent the cancer from returning, 33 rounds of radiation, and multiple surgeries for breast reconstruction.

As I neared the end of my cancer journey, my oldest daughter, Domonique Bennett, was pregnant with my first grandchild. She gave birth to my granddaughter, Faith Richmond, prematurely at the beginning of her sixth month of pregnancy. Faith was diagnosed with GBS meningitis, and we were told she likely wouldn't survive the long and difficult recovery ahead. But God had other plans—Faith is now 9 years old and thriving.

Then, in May 2016, I was diagnosed once again with breast cancer, in the same spot. I was angry, hurt, and broken all over again. But this time, I knew I had to pull myself together. I needed to be strong—not just for myself, but to show others that it’s possible to come back stronger than before. That being broken can be healed, and that giving up is not an option.

So, I decided to name the foundation PKruzzandFaith Foundation—after myself and my granddaughter—because of all the good, the bad, and the journey we both endured. The name stands for strength, humility, thriving, perseverance, faith, and love. That’s what we represent here at the PKruzzandFaith Foundation.
